President’s Report
Our gymnastics community has indeed been very busy. I extend congratulations to our athletes: WAG and Cheerleading, who recently represented the Club so magnificently at National Competitions.

This being the Club’s 30th year of serving the local community, members and management have been busy with improvements and events. In particular, the 30year reunion held on the 19th July was a great success with all of the 10 original families attending. Banners, timelines, honour rolls and videos transfixed the 130 plus guests (were the uneven bars really ever that close together?). You will also notice that we are displaying some of the landmark events and improvements that have occurred during the last 10 years.

You may have also noticed some improvements in the Club’s surrounding gardens – thanks to a retiree passerby who kindly volunteered his services - planting 28 native plants in the newly pine-chipped beds.

Thanks also to the Parent Fundraising group, all customers of the Saturday sausage sizzles and volunteers, for funding/completing the installation of the door from the Kitchen to the deck -  a wonderful asset for Holiday camps, Birthdays and other social events. If you would like to help with finishing off the painting please talk to the welcoming office staff J!

A large contingent of Club gymnasts and coaches cheered on the Australian Women’s Olympic squad during their trials at the AIS at the end of June. No doubt we will all be following Australia’s athletes during these Olympic Games! Best wishes for an enjoyable term.

National Levels (MAG & WAG) News
ACT WAG National Levels 4 – 10 Competitions culminated with ACT Titles on 22 June. All ACT gymnasts performed at a high standard. Congratulations to all our CCGC gymnasts. The Club is proud to be home to ACT Apparatus Champions for Level 4 Beam; Level 5 Vault, Beam & Floor and to ACT Overall Champions for Levels 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10. Congratulations also to CCGC’s Laura Peel, awarded ACT Gymnast of the Year. These competitions served as qualification trials for ACT teams to compete at National Championships in Brisbane early July. The Club fielded twelve representatives to Nationals and returned with 10 medals! Katrina Le is National Level 8 Bars Champion and Laura Peel is National L10 Bars Champion. Katrina was also selected to the Australian team, which will contest the Levels International Challenge in Perth mid-September. As
a result of their performances, Laura, Katrina, Melissa Orr and Keira Hopkinson received Fees Scholarships. And, as if the gymnastics was not enough fun, the Games Night proved to be a highlight once again for the whole delegation.

Thank you to our ACT coaches: Derui, Yun and Brian, ACT Judges: Connor, Mary and Lesley and ACT Chaperones: Kay, Teresa, Donna, Christine and Rosetta.

Every gymnast who enters the grading receives a participation certificate and certificate for their best scoring apparatus, a ribbon for their overall score and their levels badge. It is not compulsory to enter the grading. Notes will be handed to all interested gymnasts as soon as they are available.

If your child is ill or cannot make their class, make up classes are available. Make up classes must be booked with the office and taken during the current term. Only TWO missed classes can be made up each term.

Please note that all outstanding fees for Term 3 are now overdue. All term fees must be paid as soon as possible.

Re-enrolment forms for Term 4 will be handed to your child during week 8 of this term (8th - 13th Sept). Please remember to return re-enrolment forms and pay at least a deposit ($22) by the end of week 10 (27/09) of this term to ensure your child’s place for Term 4. Cheerleading News
CCGC Cheerleading’s Demo Day was well attended by friends and family on the 22 June. Both Mayhem and Chaos performed routines that will be showcased in competitions throughout 2008. CCGC Cheerleading plans to host another Demo Day later in the year and will also perform competition routines at the Club’s Christmas Cup.

Mayhem Cheer Squad competed at DUSC (Down Under Spirit Championships) over the last weekend in June in both Cheer and Pom. Although coming 13th runner up in Pom Mayhem achieved a third place in Cheer!  Overall Mayhem scored the seventh highest point score out of 47 teams! Mayhem, with their stand out bows and new uniforms, were complimented all weekend for their great routines.

Chaos will compete at their first competition on 24 August, held here at CCGC. Both Chaos and Mayhem will be competing in the NSW State Event held by Australian All-Star Cheerleading Federation on 14 September in Sydney.

Kindergym Challenge

Kindergym Challenge was another great success this year. There were 160 young, eager and enthusiastic athletes aged from 2 to 7 participating. All achieved great personal goals and were able to show off their gymnastics skills to their loved ones. The highlight of the day’s events was receiving a Gold Medal at the end, although some preferred the balloon.  Special thanks to all the parents who donated raffle items and all the coaches who gave up their Sunday to make the event run so smoothly. Fun was had by all.

Helpful information about your child’s class and what is going on in the club will be displayed on the screen each day. So please take the time to read the notes when you drop off or pick up your child.
